purple canyon artisan studio

 so, here I am......

The wood chosen for my turnings are selectively gathered and mostly from renewable sources. Many beautiful materials can be found in my own locale - cholla cactus, juniper, willow, and pinon.  My passion for woodturning and wood working truly makes these creations of my heart. Each is planned and executed in great detail. Much of my work stems from needing to find a solution to a question - hence functional art! From the wood that is chosen to the final piece that is presented to you, it is my goal to be meticulous and precise, but also to flow with the nature of the material. Inspiration for my work comes from nature itself and the beautifully occurring shapes found in the vast desert life of rural New Mexico where I live. Also influencing me are the cultural and artisan practices of the southwest that I am fortunate to be a part of. In addition to turning, I also express my talents through such media as southwest tin work, larger wood work, rustic gates(like the ones behind me in the picture), Santa Fe-style furniture pieces, children's chairs, Santa Fe style pet feeders and beds.
